Way 1. Scan Your Computer for Viruses

When your browser is not responding, scanning your computer for viruses is recommended in most cases. If you have third-party antivirus software installed, you can run it to scan your computer for viruses. If not, you can run Windows Defender. Here is the way.

  1. Click the Start button and select Settings.
  2. Select Security & Update.
  3. Click Windows Defender and then Open Windows Defender Security Center.
  4. Click Virus & threat protection and then click Quick scan.

Way 2. Update the Browser

In most cases, the “this page isn’t responding” error or the Page Unresponsive error is caused by outdated browsers. Then, updating the browser can solve the issue.

On Chrome:

  1. Launch Google Chrome and click the three-dot button in the top right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > About Chrome. Then, the browser will update itself automatically. After that, click Relaunch to finish the update.

On Edge:

  1. Launch Microsoft Edge and click the three-dot button in the top right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > About Microsoft Edge. It will update automatically.

On Firefox:

Way 3. Disable or Remove Extensions

  1. Go to Settings > Extensions.

On Edge:

  2. If you want to remove the extension, you just need to select Extensions and select More actions next to the extension you want to remove. Then, select Remove from Microsoft Edge > Remove.

On Firefox:

  2. Scroll through the list of extensions.
  3. Click the blue toggle for the extension you wish to disable. If you want to remove the extension, you can click the ellipsis (3-dot) icon for the extension you wish to remove and select Remove.

Way 4. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

Way 7. Adjust the dom.max_script_run_time Setting in Firefox

  3. Type dom.max_script_run_time into the search box.
